Commitment to
Character

Alpha Omicron Pi was founded on a promise to serve not only one another but the greater community as well. This commitment reflects a philosophy of friendship, concern, and usefulness in the world.

Commitment to
Dignity

Whether a member chooses to serve as a chapter officer, or represent AOII as a member of other campus or community organizations, there are numerous opportunities to develop leadership skills as a member of AOII.

Commitment to
Scholarship

AOII encourages all members to excel academically and has many programs designed to assist women in achieving their academic goals. Expectations are high but the support provided by scholarship programs, academic development officer resources, and fellow members makes success attainable.

Commitment to
College Loyalty

From collegiate years on through alumnae involvement, the reason AOIIs continue service is the joy of spending time together and sharing the insights learned from the relationships we build and sustain.

Letter from the President

On behalf of our chapter, welcome to the Sigma Gamma chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi at Appalachian State University! We are so excited and honored to tell you about our chapter, our home, and the women and values that make this chapter everything that it is.

My name is Montgomery Hedgecock, and I have the distinct honor of serving as chapter president for the Sigma Gamma chapter of AOII. I have the greatest job in the world because I represent 120 of the greatest leaders, scholars, friends, and philanthropists I have been lucky enough to meet. Because of them and this organization, I am actively becoming the best version of myself and for that, I will forever be grateful.

Upon meeting an AOII, I am confident that you will immediately see her commitment to character, dignity, scholarship, and college loyalty. You will see that each and every one of our sisters strives to be the most useful and kind member of society, the most dedicated student, the most honest and true friend, and the most passionate contributor to the world around them. You will also see their positivity about life and their hope of a better world tomorrow than the world yesterday. My life has been forever changed because I see this on a daily basis, and I hope that you do as well.

As you explore this site and get to know who we are, I hope you can imagine life as an Alpha Omicron Pi. From the Sunday night chapter meetings to the Mountaineer football tailgates to the movie nights and Cookout runs to the sisterhood retreats in the mountains of Appalachian, I hope that you can imagine the love and bonds that we share within our sisterhood. This love and grace makes this chapter what it is, and I honestly believe that my life and the world is a better place simply because Alpha Omicron Pi exists.

Roses,

Montgomery Hedgecock
